Welterweight Sound is a world-class recording facility in beautiful Marlboro, NY in the mid-Hudson Valley. Built within a restored 150-year-old barn & adjacent cottage, the 3000 sq ft studio offers expansive live rooms, rare vintage recording equipment, and comfortable on-site lodging.
Whether you’re here for a recording session with local Hudson Valley musicians, visiting for a creative retreat, or looking for support with voice-over or post-production, Welterweight Sound is a creative partner in the Hudson Valley for all things sound.
After nearly a decade operating the original iteration of Welterweight in New Paltz, owner and engineer Ryan Dieringer partnered with renowned studio designer Chris Bowman of CBHO Inc. to reimagine a barn and cottage on Dieringer’s Marlboro property as a combined 3,000-square-foot recording facility. It was designed to be able to accommodate any and all creative projects.

Studio A lives inside a fully renovated 150-year-old barn. It’s centered around a massive live room with an acoustically de-coupled control room, three additional points of isolation, and flowing sight-lines. At the heart of the studio is a 24-channel, 1970s Auditronics “Son of 36 Grand” 501 console
Studio B is housed within a cottage right next to the barn. It’s equipped with a 1970s Los Angeles–built Opamp Labs 1604 console and a sizable isolation booth, is designed as a standalone production studio, or an auxiliary space to record during a busy session. Studio B is also the site of comfortable lodging & amenities like a kitchen and full bath for artists staying on site
